June 15 Events
1933 - Frank Murphy’s inaugural as Governor-General of the Philippines takes place.
1598 - Miguel Malvar returns from Hongkong. He is elected General and assigned to Tayabas and Laguna
1896 - Dr. Pio Valenzuela, secretary of the Katipunan, leaves for Dapitan on board the insterisland steamer Venus to confer with Rizal.
1857 - Birth of General Vito Belarmino, commander of the revolutionary forces in the Bicol region. Died on July 14, 1933.
1608 - Don Rodrigo de Vivero assumes office as governor-general of the Islands. He makes important reforms.
1596 - Abulug, Cagayan, is formally established by the Dominicans, after a series expeditions which led to establishment of missions in other remote settlements.
1594 - Luis Perez Dasmarina’s asks from King Philip II for aid to two charitable institutions in Manila-the girl’s seminary of Santa Potenciana, and the confraternity of La Misericordia for the establishment and support of a temporary lodging-house for colonists, and for a hospital for the servants of Spaniards.
